George Mason supports its faculty and staff’s career sustainability through numerous mental health and wellbeing resources. As LAU leader, you can model mindfulness and support the wellbeing of your faculty, staff and students by encouraging them to use available resources. A good place to start is the Patriots Thriving Together website. In addition, The Center for the Advancement of Wellbeing has additional resources for faculty and staff. The Office of Human Resources also offers wellbeing resources and information about faculty and staff engagement. You can also encourage your faculty and staff to use Timely Care, which offers mental health and wellbeing services.
As an academic leader, you can actively incorporate mindfulness and wellbeing in your departmental culture by starting your meetings with a rewiring activity or a mindful check in. If you have questions about how to use wellbeing resources to support your faculty and staff, contact Dr. Millie Rivera, Director of Faculty Engagement and Wellbeing in the Office of Faculty Affairs and Development.
