Biography

Rose Pascarell is vice president for University Life at George Mason University where she leads initiatives on campus climate, student engagement, and student success. Pascarell oversees support and services for George Mason’s graduate and undergraduate, full-time and part-time, and residential and off-campus students. 

Pascarell supervises a diverse portfolio that includes student access and transitions, engagement, health and well-being, retention and success, and post-graduate success. Under her leadership, University Life has advanced student success and well-being by expanding access to mental health services, improving academic coaching programs, increasing accessibility services, upgrading campus infrastructure, encouraging student engagement through participation in organizations and events, and supporting Pell-eligible students. 

Pascarell has held several leadership positions at George Mason, including associate vice president for University Life, associate dean for Campus Life, and associate director of the Women's Studies Research and Resource Center. She has taught in the School of Integrative Studies and the Sociology and Women’s Studies academic units. In her role as chief student affairs officer, Pascarell served on the James E. Scott Leadership Board for the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) from 2012–2018. In March 2021, she was recognized at the NASPA and NASPA Foundation Awards Ceremony as a Pillar of the Profession, an award presented annually to distinguished individuals who have served as leaders, teachers, and scholars in student affairs and higher education.   

She earned a BA in sociology, criminology, and conflict analysis from the State University of New York at Albany, and her MA in sociology from George Mason University.
