Biography

David Burge serves as vice president for Enrollment Management at George Mason University, a position he has held since 2015. The Division for Enrollment Management is responsible for guiding students through their enrollment journey from admission, financial aid, registration, and degree conferral. The division serves the institution by responding to changing needs of our students and community with data-informed decisions, shared accountability, support for our campus colleagues, transparent and clear communication, and operational efficiency to evolve our practices and ensure student success.       

Before coming to George Mason, Burge served as executive director of Admission Services at Arizona State University where he oversaw the execution of a new student enrollment strategy for domestic and international undergraduate and graduate students. He also held senior leadership roles in the Office of Admissions and Scholarships at both the University of Kansas and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. 

He is past president of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), a professional organization of more than 30,000 school counselors and college admission professionals. Prior to his position of NACAC president, Burge served as president of the Great Plains Association for College Admission Counseling, an affiliate of the national organization.  Presently, Burge is assisting the national organization in developing online credentials for the field of enrollment management. 

A native Kansan, his academic background includes two degrees from The University of Kansas: a BA in English literature and a MSE in educational leadership and administration.
