New resource offers guidance on faculty facing harassment

Body

George Mason University has launched a new online resource to support faculty who may be targeted as a result of their scholarship.

Developed by a summer working group comprised of faculty and administrators, the resource offers guidance for faculty, department chairs, academic unit heads, principal investigators, and deans on how to navigate cases of faculty harassment.

The Managing Faculty Harassment page, available on the Office of the Provost’s website, provides essential information and resources to help faculty and administrators navigate these situations effectively. This effort was initiated last spring by Interim Provost Ken Walsh in collaboration with then Faculty Senate President Melissa Broeckelman-Post. The working group was led by Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs and Development Kim Eby.

University leaders, particularly those in academic leadership roles, are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the resource. For any questions or concerns, please contact the Office of the Provost.
