George Mason University faculty seeking feedback on near-final drafts or previously submitted proposals, or copy-editing services for grant applications have access to two affordable on-campus resources supplied by Research Development Services.
Proposal Editing Support Program
Faculty are invited to apply to be part of a proposal feedback program in which teams of graduate students enrolled in an advanced proposal writing course provide feedback on near-final or previously submitted proposals. Feedback focuses on the alignment of the proposal with the solicitation requirements. Proposals and their solicitations are due by Monday, March 11. Those with previously reviewed proposals may also provide the reviewer comments. Feedback and edits will be completed no later than Wednesday, May 15. All applications will be kept confidential. Space is limited; selected candidates will be notified by email. This program is free.
Copy Editing Services
Research Development Services offers copy editing services which include grammar, syntax, layout, and the overall presentation of faculty grant applications. This work is performed by graduate and advanced undergraduate students undergoing technical editing training at Mason. The service is priced at $15 per hour. All submissions, which will be kept confidential, must be provided at least two weeks before the Mason internal submission deadline. Editors will not provide commentary on the scientific, technical, or research merits of the proposal. Interested faculty are encouraged to fill out a request form.
Submissions
Faculty should fill out the respective forms located on the website. A member of Research Development Services will respond to all submissions.
